Senior Projects
The Machine Intelligence class at UTRGV had its Senior project presentations where MI lab members Ryunghoon Ahn, Christian Valdes, Samuel Lee and Angel Peredo presented thier Senior Projects
Ryunghoon Ahn, Christian Valdes and Samuel Lee's presentation was on a Quadruped robot that utilizes reinforcement learning. Angel Peredo's presentation was on Learning Tennis through Example-Guided Deep Reinforcement Learning with the main objective being to teach a humanoid model to perform complex physically simulated tennis skills.
MI Poster Session
The Machine Intelligence class at UTRGV had its end-of-semester poster session where students were able to present their final projects to their peers and faculty. The poster session took place on the 1st floor of the EIEAB building at the UTRGV Edinburg campus.
Students taking the Machine Intelligence course taught by Dr. Dong-Chul Kim were given a semester to work on their research project of a topic of their choice to present at the end of the semester. The poster session was held at the entrance of the Computer Science department where students and professors from the CS and other departments were invited hear student's presentations and give feedback. The poster sessions are aimed to encourage students pursue research and to come up with ideas for new research topics.
ECE Poster Competition
Congratulations to Christian Aguilar, Michael Cancino, Catalina Diaz, Stephany Lopez, and Allyssa Villanueva for winning the 2022 Undergraduate Electrical and Computer Egineering Poster Competition at UTRGV!
Their project End-to-end Translation System for American Sign Language (ASL), presenting the first steps toward utilizing deep learning to translate ASL, earned them 1st place in the competition. Christian, Michael, Catalina, Stephany, and Allysa all worked on their project under the guidance of UTRGV ECE and CS faculty Dr. Dong-Chul Kim, Dr. Weidong Kuang, and Mr. Carlos Rodriguez-Betancourth.
